UVENTURE MUD RUN
Sophie Gorman and Nick McLees are supporting the charity by taking on the Uventure Challenge to raise money for the trust.
This is an Iron Mud Run challenge which is packed with over 40 obstacles from waterslides, A-frames, cargo nets, pipes and mud miles. Sophie and Nick are preparing to get muddy and wet as they run through the woodlands for 12km tackling all the obstacles.
"I volunteered in Ghana with my partner, Nick, in September 2017. During that time, I met Emma and her friend Martin, from the Helen Hodgkins Trust. Emma was opening a borehole that her charity had raised money for and was delivering water filters with us when we were visiting local villages on our outreach projects.
I was amazed and inspired by Emma with all the hard work and her passion to help others. The difference she has made in Ghana is unbelievable - seeing the poverty out there first hand and the way she was helping make huge impacts to family's lives.
I wanted to do this to help to continue her work. I can truly say every penny Emma raises goes straight to people who need it - she is one of the most caring, friendly, generous people with a heart of gold. It is a true pleasure to be involved with this charity, helping to bring safe drinking water and medical care to communities in desperate need."
