IT REALLY WASN'T A WALK IN THE PARK!
Looking back at our journey we can honestly say this really was a challenge of mind and body. The funds raised were funds well earned.
And sadly there were a few casualties along the way.
Day 2 proved difficult with one of our team struggling with vertigo. A true mental battle was overcome.
On day 3 we had two casualties with a fall giving one of our team members a seriously swollen ankle but she powered on through and managed to make it to the bottom.
Altitude sickness also was a problem on our third and final day. One of our team became seriously ill and we worried that they may not make it. Feeling hot when they were cold and not being able to get their breath. It was a serious battle.
But thanks to the knowledge and expertise of our guide, within an hour we were smiling and making our way to the end of our challenge.
I think some walking boots are now retired and will never make it back to the mountains.
A comment from one of our team members:
“When your friend asks you if you want to walk in the Alps to raise money for a charity.....Think long and hard about your answer.”
The final day was one to celebrate, tired legs, exhausted minds, chafed thighs.
But the most amazing memories.
Huge congratulations to all of our team.
You felt the pain.....
But you made it!!!!!
