Andrew Wakely's Great North Run

Andrew Wakely you are a superstar!

Thank you so much for raising funds and awareness for our cause. Everyone at the Helen Hodgkins Trust wants to congratulate you on such an amazing run - it's just a shame that Mo Farah pipped you to the post!

Andrew had this to say:

"The day started well - bowl of porridge and sunshine.

It was a very warm day which was helped with cold shower tunnels at
intervals along the course. The route seemed to be mostly uphill until the
last 2 miles where it flattened out and the last mile was along the sea

The crowds and supporters on the day were fantastic which certainly helped
when the legs were getting tired.
Overall it was a hard run for someone who is not a natural runner.  The
weather and the people made the day.

There were 57,000 people running on Sunday, Mo came in 1st with a time of 1 hr and 4 seconds, I came is just behind him.
It was neck and neck at the midway point, Mo had to pick up his pace a little to save being embarrassed.
I eventually came in 7442 places behind him. I had to tie my shoe lace.

My time was 1hr 53.49 and my official finish place was 7443.

I would really like to thank all of those who helped and supported me through

I am thinking about doing it again next year!"
